Anti-wrinkle injectables relax chosen muscles causing a reduction of lines and wrinkles, softening the appearance of skin and facial expressions.

Muscle relaxant injections can be used to help manage pain from TMD/bruxism and can also be administered to fight the first signs of ageing or the appearance of facial creases or wrinkles, frown lines, and/or crow’s feet.

Face wrinkles are a result of over-activity of facial muscles pulling in a certain manner and direction so, over time, facial creases appear relating to particular habits.

Anti-wrinkle injectables can be ideal for achieving the ultimate anti-ageing effect, rejuvenating a youthful, smooth appearance.

All patients wanting injectable treatments must first attend a facial aesthetics consultation and injectables may not be prescribed if your clinician does not deem you suitable for treatment.

How does it work?

Anti-wrinkle injectables contain botulinum toxin which works by freezing the chosen facial muscles in the area of concern which temporarily but effectively paralyses it for 3-6 months.

Not only does this reduce and even eliminate wrinkle lines, but it can also result in the muscle habit being broken, preventing further ageing lines and wrinkles.

Therefore, unlike off-the-shelf anti-ageing skin or eye creams that masks ageing lines, anti-wrinkle injectables can help to actively eliminate wrinkle lines and can even help prevent them from forming.

How long does it take to administer?

The actual administration of this treatment usually only takes 5-10 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated. But your facial aesthetics practitioner will take some time beforehand to discuss and accurately plan which muscles to target.

It’s not a painful procedure, not dissimilar to having acupuncture therefore, local anaesthetic is not usually required. If requested, we can apply topical anaesthetic cream 20-30 minutes before treatment to help with any tenderness at the injection site.
